The town of Torrey is located in one of the most beautiful regions of Utah. It is in close proximity to Capitol Reef National Park, Boulder Mountain, and other natural wonders. Torrey reflects the natural beauty of its surroundings, but also comes with the challenges of the remote setting. Torrey is responsible for a lot of infrastructure in the area, and the water system is often taxed to provide the ever-increasing demands due to growth, tourism, and drought. To keep up with infrastructure demands, Torrey needed a trusted advisor in helping them plan for the future and become a more resilient community.
Ensign was chosen as Torrey’s advisor and began the process by helping plan for funding, design, construction, and operation on a variety of projects. This ongoing project required Ensign to get out of the office and into the field to really experience Torrey so they could maintain the integrity of the town and its environment. At times Ensign personnel were in the field with Torrey late at night, digging up pipelines or helping troubleshoot problems in the system.
Ensign designed and oversaw the installation of over 11 miles of pipes. The pipeline often ran through extremely remote locations making construction difficult. Our team helped acquire funding for Torrey to use in source development, distribution system improvements, and other general water projects.
