Provo High School fosters the growth of nearly 2,000 students and offers full programming of a variety of educational and athletic-based activities. The 358,000 square foot facility sits on a 43-acre site, making a space for students to explore their passions without having to leave campus.
Provo High School believes that every student should have the right, responsibility and opportunity to learn and that learning and teaching are continuous interrelated processes. The education of their students relies heavily on the support of the community and they needed a space for students, faculty, and community members alike to gather and learn.
Ensign’s relationship with the Provo School District began years ago and has progressed through a series of projects. Over the years we have had the privilege of working with school district personnel and partnering with many of the best local architectural firms, consulting firms, and contractors to develop new learning environments.
Architecturally led projects require clear and consistent coordination to ensure our portion of the design integrates well with the rest of the design. Every project has a unique set of constraints, and with the Provo High School project our team faced substantial on-site utility constraints. Our solution was twofold. Part of the solution was to elevate the building by placing it on structural fill, and then we had to coordinate with housing developments in the area to ensure utilities were provided to the site at the correct elevations.
