The Hale Center Theater is dedicated to providing innovation and education through family-friendly theater to the Utah community. Recently relocated to Sandy, Utah, The Hale Center Theater has expanded their space to seat 1,368 people, serving more community members seeking to enjoy time together.
Ensign Engineering proudly provided the site design and survey for the building, as well as civil and structural design for the outdoor water features. The project site was right down the street from our Sandy headquarters, inspiring our team with the daily progress they could see and be part of.
The Ensign team was heavily involved with this project, working with the architect, owners and with Sandy City to develop the site design and survey. This project was designed to directly serve the community and the Ensign team wanted to make sure it was functional and aesthetically beautiful. Ensign also provided the civil and structural design of the water features in the plaza, bringing art and design to community members the moment they stepped on the grounds or as they were driving by.
A challenging design aspect of this project was the high groundwater on the project site which required an underground drain system and pumps for both the underground and surface stormwater. Ensign worked with the design team and Sandy City to find a solution that would maintain the integrity of existing infrastructure and allow for the creation of a pump system for the new water features.
The Hale Centre Theatre is now a perfect example of how spaces shape community experience. The Ensign team is proud to have been part of this project and look forward to any future opportunities to work on projects like this!
