The Chekshani Well was drilled in extremely sandy soil. A 30” borehole was drilled down to 900’. The well was cased with 12” casing and packed with 3/8” SRI silica. It was test pumped at 500 gpm. The contract times for this project were not typical. The landowner leasing the property was also constructing the well. Per the agreement, he was able to drill the well when his farm work allowed. The agreement between the Central Iron County WCD and the land owner allowed for the land owner to drill the well using his chosen well driller and employees.
Our responsibility was to design and facilitate state approval so his team could begin drilling as soon as the crop was finished. We also provided construction administration, but no bidding in this phase of the process. The well was constructed with a large diameter in order to allow additional filter media (silica). The well is projected to pump at around 200 gpm.
